Bangladesh Navy's submarine fleet represents a pivotal element of modern naval warfare stealthy, strategic and formidable. Integrating these submarines into the Navy has fulfilled Bangladesh Navy's long-held aspiration towards three-dimentional force. Bangladesh Navy commissioned its first two submarines acquired from China on 12 March 2017. The arrival of these submarines underscores the Navy's enhanced operational capabilities and commitment to safeguarding national interests.
Special Warfare Diving and Salvage, in short SWADS, is the Special Operation Force of Bangladesh Navy designed to conduct operations on Land, Air and at Sea. The history of the special operations of Bangladesh dates back to our Liberation War when Naval Commandos struck a devastating blow to enemy supplies through sea lines. Various operational activities of SWADS are conducted through the Naval Commando Group, Diving and Salvage Group, Diving and Salvage Support Ship Group, and School of SWADS & Centre.
