Bangladesh's Elite Naval Special Operations Force

The Special Warfare Diving and Salvage (SWADS) is Bangladesh Navy’s elite special force. Its members are highly trained and carefully chosen to carry out the Navy’s most secret missions.

Core Operational Mandate

SWADS has a wide range of duties that require its members to be skilled in both combat and advanced diving and salvage operations. It conducts Direct Action to capture or destroy key enemy targets and Special Reconnaissance to gather secret intelligence. In Maritime Counterterrorism, they perform Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) missions to fight piracy and smuggling. SWADS handles Underwater Demolition and EOD to remove obstacles and deal with explosives and conducts salvage and recovery to repair or recover equipment underwater.
