Bangladesh Navy's contributions to Bhasan Char exemplify its significant role in nation-building, highlighting unprecedented dedication and commitment to execute complex humanitarian projects under challenging circumstances. Bangladesh Navy has been instrumental in designing and constructing critical infrastructure, including building over 1,440 robust housing, embankments to protect against flooding, 120 cyclone shelters, roads and water management systems, ensuring the island's sustainability and resilience to accommodate nearly 100,000 people. The project formally began in 2017, and by December 2020, the first group of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) were relocated to Bhasan Char. Subsequently, relocations followed in phases, with close monitoring by national and international agencies.
