Introduction
1. BNS ISSA KHAN is one of the largest naval bases of Bangladesh Navy stands on 116.14 acres of land near the bank of Karnaphuli River in the port city Chattogram.
2. She was commissioned on 10 December 1974 with a view to producing skilled manpower and provides operational and logistics support to Bangladesh Navy fleet Saint Martin, Chanua, Vashanchar and Cox’s Bazar.
3. Training Activities: BNS ISSA KHAN harbours the largest training facilities for BN. The Training Complex accommodates total 8 Schools of its own and 5 schools of other organizations. Schools of its own are as follows:
- Gunnery School
- Navigation and Direction (ND) School
- Torpedo Anti Submarine (TAS) School
- Signal School
- Physical Training (PT) School
- Nuclear Biological and Chemical Defence Including Fire Fighting and Damage Control (NBCD) School
- School of Computer and Information Technology (SC & IT)
- Music School
4. The abovementioned schools provide highest professional training to both officers and sailors. Professional courses like Direct Entry Officers Course and PWO Gunnery (G);Navigation (N);Torpedo Anti-Submarine (TAS); Communication (C) Specialization Course for officers are conducted here. The sailors receive training ranging from 3rd Rate to 1st Rate from these schools as well.

Overview
5. An area reproduction cell is manned by training wing to provide support for printing, cutting, binding of all kinds of dockets and official documents. Training office also runs various training courses like ITT course for officers, JCO’s, PO’s and Leading rank along with Language courses like-Arabic, France, English etc.
6. The oldest schools of BNS ISSA KHAN are Gunnery School, Signal school, Physical Training School, those were established in 1975. On the other hand TORPEDO ANTI SUBMARINE (TAS), NAVIGATION and DIRECTION school & Music school were established in 1976. Apart from that Nuclear Biological Chemical & Damage Control Including Fire Fighting school was established in 1983 & School of Computer and Information Technology started in the year of 2002.
7. The motto of Gunnery school is ‘KEEP ON HITTING UNTILL THE TARGET IS FULLY DESTROYED’. She is the heart of training of Above Water Warfare that imparts training on various ‘Above Water Warfare aspects to Officers and Sailors of Bangladesh Navy.
8. The motto of TAS school is ‘FREE SHALL WE KEEP THE UNDERSEA’. She imparts training on various under water warfare aspects and acts as adviser on under water warfare for all TAS related matters especially in Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and weapon control system.
9. The motto of Signal school is ‘IN PEACE AND WAR COMMUNICATION EVERYWHERE’. It imparts training on various aspects of communication focused on enhancing communication skills, technological proficiency, and operational readiness among naval personnel.
10. The motto of ND School is ‘NIGHT OR DAY LEAD THE WAY’. The only navigational training centre of Bangladesh Navy (BN) that is capable to conduct all kinds of courses for navigation branch.
11. The motto of PT School is ‘TOUGHEN THE BODY POLISH THE SPIRIT’. This School provides/imparts training on physical and mental fitness.
12. The motto of Computer School is ‘TRANSFORMING SLOWEST INTO FASTEST THROUGH E-SERVICE FOR BETTER FUTURE’. This school provides training for the sailors and civilians of Bangladesh Navy as well as the members of Army and Air Force.
13. The motto of NBCD School is ‘SPEARHEAD IN PREVENTION OF FIRE’. NBCD School is responsible for providing training on various methods of major fire fighting and damage control including the NBC aspect of warfare to officers and sailors of Bangladesh Navy and also civil trainees from other organization.
14. The motto of MUSIC School is ‘I WILL ALWAYS KEEP YOU HAPPY’. She imparts training to sailors of the Musician Branch on various musical instruments successfully. They are participating in various national, international, inter-service and internal naval programs during peacetime.
Training Activities
15. Theoretical Classes. Theoretical classes as well as practical classes are conducted in these schools in a befitting manner.
16. Practical Classes. There are highly equipped model rooms for all schools where students are oriented with different ammunition and missile, Navigation Equipment, Morse code messages, Radio telephone procedures etc.
17. Training Visit. To enhance the knowledge on maritime operations, Schools are conducting training visit at various inner and outer organizations. In order to share knowledge, different organizations like Cadet Colleges, BCS & BJS org, Friendly navy ships, BCS Ansaretc visited different schools of BNS ISSA KHAN in a regular basis.
18. Extra-Curriculum Activities. The trainees participates in various extra-curricular activities and competitions both indoors and outdoors.
19. Fire Fighting & Damage Control Exercise. All Trainees carried out Fire fighting including major fire fighting & damage control drills/exercise at the damage control simulator for gaining practical knowledge in NBCD school.
20. Coclusion. Apart from that NBCD & IT Schools imparts training for all branches of junior officers & sailors.
