Naval Aviation

In the vast theatre where the sky meets the sea, Bangladesh Navy's aviation wing soars as the 'Ocean Eagles, embodying the zenith of aerial and maritime prowess. The Navy has been actively nurturing its naval aviation capabilities, making significant strides in helicopter and fixed wing fleets. In 2011, Bangladesh Navy spread its wings by acquiring two Augusta Westland AW 109 E helicopters. Expansion of Navy's aviation assets continued in 2013 with the acquisition of two Dornier 228 NG Maritime Patrol Aircraft. These aircraft significantly strengthened Navy's maritime surveillance capabilities, allowing for more effective monitoring of nation's waters and enhancing its operational reach. Between 2021 and 2022, Bangladesh Navy further expanded its aviation fleet with two more Dornier 228 NG aircraft. This acquisition reflects a focused effort to enhance maritime domain awareness and ensure comprehensive coverage of nation's maritime interests.
